Pet Horse & Farm mix it up for the World's Best

On Saturday 27 September the first contingent of international racehorses arrived in Australia for an assault on the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.

In the lead up to these world class thoroughbreds touching down, Pet Horse & Farm and Dr Peter Huntington, Leading Equine Nutritionist from Kentucky Equine Research, have been helping to master a range of custom horse mixes specific to the needs of international trainers chasing the spoils of the Melbourne Cup – the world’s richest staying race.

The 2014 carnival will be the 20th year Racing Victoria, Pet Horse & Farm and the international ‘raiders’ have teamed up. 2014 also sees the return of old warrior and Melbourne Cup placegetter, Red Cadeaux, who requires his own ‘seniors’ diet.

For a great read about the world of globetrotting thoroughbreds and the importance of getting their feed right, check out this article from the European Trainer magazine: The Challenge of Feeding Globetrotting Horses.

We also have a long standing relationship with local Flemington trainers including the Cummings stable, supplying feed for most of his Melbourne Cup triumphs.

We are happy to develop mixes for any of our customers, or if there is an equine product that you can’t find online please call 1300362326 and I’m sure we can find it for you.
